Hi Space Students!
On May 11, 2017, the Space Studies department will be holding an end of the semester banquet to recognize the achievements of online students, campus students, staff, and faculty. Last year, Caitlin and I summarized the 2015-2016 academic year achievements in a poetic approach. We have been brainstorming ideas of what we would present this May, and have decided to make this a collaborative effort with all the students. With all your help, we would like to propose the following SURPRISE idea:
Similar to a “graduation/birthday/wedding video”, we would like to show the faculty and staff a thank you video with submissions from all of you. These submissions can be informal (you can take it on your cell phone). If you flip your phone horizontally, the final presentation will be better!
We have three professors who will be leaving us this summer (Drs. Seelan, Rygalov, and Hardersen), and we could also use this video to reach out to them and thank them for all their time at UND. We encourage sending in both funny and/or serious videos.
You can submit multiple videos! We would love to quickly flash videos one after the other, so the more the merrier! If videos could be no longer than 30 seconds, that would be awesome!
Videos can reference funny class jokes, memorable events from classes, or serious thank you messages. Please send all types!
Any success stories? Think small and big!
Maybe you could film yourself out in the field or area of your research!
If you are on campus, Caitlin and I can help video you. Stop by our office!
Multiple ways to send in your videos:
Upload your video to: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B1MydfdSRLUZSGxveTM3MkJIVXc?usp=sharing
Email them to msaad@space.edu
Text them to 617-462-0610
Submit videos by Thursday, April 20th.
Some example messages:
Simple: Professor X, thank you for such a fun “Rescuing Mark Watney from Mars” Class
Comical: Hey, Dr. X, remember when you brought up all your cat pictures instead of the class PowerPoint? Yeah, we don’t either.
Serious: I would like to thank all the professors for their hard work and dedication. I have landed my dream job at Mars R’ Us, and could not have done it without you.
Seelan/Rygalov/Hardersen specific: a special section for their departures would be awesome!
Please talk to your alumni friends (especially if you remember someone who was their advisee and spread the word!) Videos can mention any professor, class, or Space Studies experience!
Remember, this will be a surprise to all faculty and staff, so please don’t mention it to them. We will upload the final product to our Space Grant YouTube page and share it with you. :)
Thanks so much everyone,
-Marissa and Caitlin
